Kya socha hai career ke baare main?????

Career such a heavy topic.................What are the plans for your career??......................Where do you want to see yourself 5 years down the line???......................I am not enjoying the work I am doing???......................I am not able to follow my passions....Kya hoga mera??............Career i guess is much tougher to pronounce than commitment(yes wohi wala commitment)

Well never had planned to write about such a heavy topic....But today the situation, circumstances, and people around me forced me to think and write......The morning I woke and glanced through the Newspaper I saw a article whose title read.."Today's youngsters are more stressed thinking about their career than they were 10 years back".......A question tossed into my mind as to why was this so??...A few hours later i had a chat with one of my sweet old friend who had something same to discuss with me. Although she was doing awesome in her MBA college at of the end she gets bogged thinking of a question as "Why am I doing all this??" And to add all this I attended a session in my company which addressed the topic Career Development-Do's and Dont's.....All this really made me think.

When you ask anybody starting from ppl who have 30 yrs of experience to the one who has just 30 days of experience you will find everyone has something to share. I did this , I did that , I took a risk Look where I am today and what not. I worked hard, I was adaptive I had to fight for things ...... I was from a poor family, I started my work from 1000 bucks ....and a hell lot of thinks. This has always wondered me what does success mean?...............I heard one of the speakers in the session say "Look I am pretty successful"...Listening to so many people so many experiences --reading so many books watching so many inspirational movies.....More than enrichment it has confused me. What is this **** thing called success??????Is success a relative term?....................

Success for me means a very very different thing from what it means to you. Then how can success be defined. How can anybody tell u how to succeed. If some one tells he is explaining his way of getting success and his intention of success not yours...

How can one person who is himself different from the other in so many ways give us Gyaan as to what is takes to make a good career, what is like attaining success. Every person is different - Every person thinks differently then how can one brag about saying that this is what you should be doing. Why am i asked to be adaptive? If Bill Gates had thought to be adaptive he would not have reached where he is today. That doesnt mean to say that not being adaptive will make you Bill Gates. There are many who drop school and start something...Not all have become Chairman of company as big as Microsoft. ..................Let me not confuse you more - - Let me come to my point....................But again with caution that what i present is what i Think and will follow. Might be completely/partially right/wrong for U...Here i go...........

How to build a career is such a personalized question that none can answer you. If there was a straight jacket principle then there would not have been a single sad soul. When we ask some one as to "this is what i think i should be doing....Am i rite? " By this you are not selling your idea rather you are buying his . If he says you are right then you are. People may fight saying that he has lots of experience. What is experience ???? His experience has been in his circumstances, his surroundings.... If you go and ask Ian chappel how to win a cricket match...he might tell you the basics of cricket but cant teach you how to win. Thats the same everywhere.....Its you who can think......Its you who needs to decide ...... Its you who can take a decision...Thats where individuality comes into picture............

We need to sell our ideas not become a buyer....and join the crowd. Someone has rightly said that 99% of the people are reasonable but remaining 1 % are unreasonable and this is the 1% who decide our tomorrow. .................................................

The crux of this article is that i believe no one can tell you do to do this or that in your career....analyze what you are? who you are and what would give you maximum happiness.....make some trade-offs if required do what ever you want to but the final decision has to come from your side...You are You and non can replace your thoughts forget replace none can even aid you in thinking. . . . .

So next time before thinking to meet someone and ask him suggestions to improve your career or a decision for the future think twice....Do not loose your indentity. Dont become a slave of other thoughts...

When I came up to comment i was more surprised with anonymous comments! If u think u r true y not show identity? Anyway....

Rakesh, as ever has a ver genuine concern, a friend of mine who has cleared his written in CAT is now preparing for GD/PI, he goes to people asking for an answer to a VERY COMMON QUESTION thst is....WHY DO U WANT TO DO MBA? probably he is the person RC mentioned about. SOME career guru advices him to do MBA so that ur salary is high and respectable, but is he solving true purpose of doing MBA? or is he being true to his ambitions and dreams?? I dontthink so.............and I think That is wjhere INDIVIDUALITY comes into picture.....

I completely agree that experiences are different for different people as circumstances are different. I cant WEAR a RAINCOAT to HELP MYSELF in WINTERS!! but sure the basic idea behind the raincoat is PROTECTION from WEATHER...... I apply my innovation and come up with a MINK JACKET.....and that is success to me........ SUCCESS means BEING ABLE TO IMPLEMENT YOUR IDEAS!! and then u become a leader become u have been able to prove urself in ur eyes.....that self respect will help u to motivate people and become a leader like BIL GATES.....but idea behind BILL GATES is HIS ORIGINALITY AND INDIVIDUALITY!!

Thanks Rakesh for the enlightening article......keep it up!!
